My philosophy is simple. I believe that training dogs should be fun, innovative, and growl-free. Both dogs and their human’s will benefit from training. These benefits include building your dog's confidence, expanding your dog's behavioral repertoire that will help most situations in life, mental and physical stimulation, stress reduction by supplying your dog with information that leads to excellent communication and creating a lifelong bond between you and your pet.
I have studied B.F. Skinner and his theory on operant conditioning. Understanding this concept is the most reliable tool we have today in working toward solving behavioral problems in dogs. Additionally, my behavioral analyst training focuses on utilizing the Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) approach, as well as the Constructional Approach. I focus on helping you build repertoires of behaviors to employ instead of getting rid of "unwanted" behaviors.
What does this Mean? It means, that learned behaviors never truly disappear; however, they can take a back seat once new behaviors are implemented, established and practiced often.
My mission is to help you, and your dog achieve your full potential by designing and supporting you with the best behavioral program tailored to you and your dog’s unique needs. The same techniques of positive reinforcement I used in zoos and aquariums are effective in the training of dogs, as well since we are not training just a unique individual we are also training the mammalian brain.
I am a born problem-solver and am passionate about addressing challenging issues that others shy away from. I have been successful in helping dogs in shelters and dogs at home building new behaviors that help solve aggression, fear and anxiety. All dogs have unique needs, so I also offer teaching and training in basic skills like socialization and manners, as well as and puppy classes.
